Beijing University of Technology

Beijing University of Technology was established in 1960 and is a key university administered by the Beijing Municipal Government. It has a multidisciplinary profile centered on engineering and spanning nine major disciplines, including engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, education, art, and interdisciplinary studies. The university was approved in 1981 as one of the first universities in China to confer master's degrees and in 1985 to confer doctoral degrees. It entered the national 211 Project in 1996 and the Double First-Class Initiative in 2017, then passed the first-round construction evaluation in 2022 and remained in the second-round Double First-Class list. BJUT reports that 9 disciplines entered the QS subject top 500, while 11 disciplines reached the ESI top 1%, with Engineering and Materials Science ranked in the top 1‰. The international-student catalogue covers Chinese-taught undergraduate study, English-taught undergraduate study in selected majors, postgraduate study, and non-degree routes including pre-university, visiting student, and advanced visiting student programs. Undergraduate applicants for Chinese-taught programs must meet CSCA and HSK requirements, while postgraduate and visiting routes are also organized through the international-student admission system. The campus is in Chaoyang District, Beijing, giving students access to the city’s major academic, industrial, and cultural network. BJUT also describes on-campus accommodation for international students with different room types and capacity for over 600 students.
