Scholarships

Peking University offers several scholarships for international students, including the Peking University Scholarship for International Students, the Beijing Government Scholarship, and the Chinese Government Scholarship (Type B). These scholarships cover tuition fees, living stipends, medical insurance, and sometimes accommodation. The Peking University Scholarship was established in 2012 to attract outstanding international students to pursue undergraduate, master's, and Ph.D. degrees. The Beijing Government Scholarship has three types (A, B, C) with varying levels of coverage. New undergraduate applicants do not need to submit a separate scholarship application; merit-based awards are granted upon admission.

Peking University Scholarship for International Students

  • Coverage: Tuition, a living stipend and medical insurance.
  • Eligibility: Meet PKU admission requirements; applied to full-time self-funded programs; not received other scholarships.
  • How to apply: Submit online application at http://www.studyatpku.com. Undergraduate applicants do not need to apply separately.
  • Deadline: Generally in January and March each year.

Beijing Government Scholarship

  • Coverage: Type A: full tuition waiver, housing, living stipend, and medical insurance. Type B: full tuition waiver, housing, and medical insurance. Type C: full tuition waiver and medical insurance.
  • Eligibility: Friendly towards China, abide by laws; age limits (undergrad ≤25, master ≤35, PhD ≤40); for regular tuition programs; no other scholarships; meet PKU admission requirements.
  • How to apply: Prospective graduate students apply via PKU then submit scholarship app Jan-Mar. Undergrads assessed on admission. Current students apply in September.
  • Deadline: January and March for prospective students; September for current students.
