About The University of Queensland

The University of Queensland was established through a 1909 Act of State Parliament and was officially founded on 16 April 1910, making it the first university in Queensland. UQ is a public university with main campuses at St Lucia, Gatton, Herston and Dutton Park. It is ranked among the world’s top 50 universities and is recognised as a world-leading research and teaching institution. UQ’s international-student community numbers 21,574 students from 141 countries, and the wider university community totals 55,424 students. The university’s academic structure spans major faculties including business, economics and law; engineering, architecture and information technology; health, medicine and behavioural science; humanities, arts and social sciences; and science.
