Zhengzhou University (ZZU) is a large public, comprehensive, and research-oriented university administered by the People’s Government of Henan Province and located in Zhengzhou City, Henan, China. Operating across four campuses with a total area of about 939 acres, ZZU enrolls over 50,000 full-time undergraduate students, more than 22,000 master’s and doctoral students, and around 2,500 international students from over 116 countries and regions. The university is a nationally recognized institution included in China’s “211 Project,” the “One Province, One University” key support program, and jointly constructed by Henan Province and the Ministry of Education. Formed in 2000 through the merger of Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou University of Technology, and Henan Medical University—with medical education roots dating back to 1928—ZZU has developed strong strengths in medicine, engineering, sciences, and humanities. Since 2017, it has been part of China’s World First-Class University construction plan, with a long-term goal of becoming a globally competitive comprehensive research university by the mid-21st century.
